History

The history of Orco Feglino is ancient and fascinating. The first historical testimonies related to the territory date back to 967, when the Castrum Orche is mentioned within the Aleramici. Later, the territory came under the control of Bonifacio del Vasto and then, in 1142, under that of Enrico I del Carretto, the founder of the Marquisate of Finale.

The feudal lords built a castle in the village of Orco, enclosed by defensive walls and a tower. In the seventeenth century, the municipality was incorporated into the Republic of Genoa and later into the Kingdom of Sardinia, before the unification of Italy.
