In the fifteenth century, the powerful Orvietan Guelf family began the construction of the imposing quadrangular fortress, locally known as Palazzo Madama. Returned to the Church at the end of the seventeenth century, the center was assigned on an emphyteutic basis to Giuseppe Denham.
