In fact, the number of inhabitants has been decreasing steadily until the end of the 1980s, when the historical minimum of 788 inhabitants was recorded in 1989. Subsequently, the population increased slightly, exceeding 800 inhabitants again.

The inhabitants of Olmeneta mainly live in the town center.
