Oleggio Castello

Oleggio Castello: a cross between flatlands and hills

Oleggio Castello is a municipality in the province of Novara in Piedmont, located at the intersection of several provincial roads from nearby towns and divided in two by the Strada statale 142 Biellese. The position of the town is fortunate, only a few kilometers away from Arona, a tourist center on Lake Maggiore, and has contributed to the growth of its population in recent years thanks to the hospitality of its inhabitants.

The history of Oleggio Castello

The town was probably founded by the Celts and then conquered by the Latins and Lombards, who left its ancient name "Olegio qui dicitur Longobardorum". Oleggio Castello had the dignity of municipality for most of the time, except for the period from 1928 to 1947, when it was merged with Paruzzaro and Montrigiasco. In 1947, Montrigiasco remained a hamlet, staying under Paruzzaro until 1960 and then becoming a hamlet of Arona.
