Villagreca
Hello from the hamlet of Villagreca
Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about my favorite hamlet: Villagreca. Villagreca is a small hamlet located in the municipality of Nuraminis, which has only 290 inhabitants. But don't be fooled by its size! This place has an ancient and fascinating history that will leave you breathless.
Ancient history
The area of Villagreca has a human presence dating back to the pre-nuragic and nuragic period, as evidenced by the archaeological finds found in the area. Later, during the Roman era, this area was still inhabited. But the history of this place does not end here.
The Middle Ages and the modern age
During the Middle Ages, Villagreca was under the jurisdiction of Cagliari, in the curatorship of Nuraminis. In 1258, the jurisdiction fell and Villagreca was briefly under Pisan control before passing under Aragonese administration. In 1414, it was incorporated into the barony of Furtei, a fiefdom of the Sanjust. It is interesting to note that Villagreca maintained this position until the suppression of the feudal system in 1839.
The autonomous municipality
Since 1861, Villagreca became an autonomous municipality until 1868, when it became a hamlet of Nuraminis. Since then, it has been a small community in its own right, part of a larger municipality but with a unique history.
Other projects
Villagreca, like many other small municipalities, has been suppressed and incorporated into a larger municipality over the years. But it doesn't mean that its historical and cultural heritage has been forgotten. Villagreca is still part of the province of South Sardinia and is considered one of the most picturesque and fascinating hamlets in the region.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I invite you to visit my favorite hamlet, Villagreca. It is a place with an ancient and interesting history and a welcoming and friendly community. It doesn't matter whether you're traveling alone or with your family or friends, Villagreca will definitely leave you with an indelible memory of Sardinia and its cultural heritage. Thank you for reading and have a good trip!
