Tainate was an old municipality in the province of Milan and became a parish as early as 1583. In 1771, a census commissioned by Maria Theresa of Austria counted 365 inhabitants in the village. In 1805, with the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy, Tainate depopulated and started to have inhabitants again only in 1859, when it reached 506 inhabitants. During the Napoleonic period, Tainate was merged with Noviglio and Copiago, but the municipality was reinstated in 1841 and then definitively dissolved and annexed to Noviglio in 1870 with a decree by Victor Emmanuel II.
