A brief history of Norma

According to sources, the ancient Latin city of Norba was destroyed by Silla's troops and never rebuilt. The few survivors of the population took refuge in the current site of Norma and over the centuries, the city was established. The main nucleus was built on the rocky wall, the so-called "rave," in the most defensible part. In the Middle Ages, Norma depended on the nearby Abbey of Valvisciolo or the Caetani Castle of Sermoneta, becoming a marquisate under the Borghese family.
