Monuments and places of interest

Niella Tanaro is in a strategic position that makes it a point of reference for history and art. Among its monuments, we find the Monument to the Fallen of the Campaign of Africa and the two wars, with a stone base and numerous frescoes from the late Gothic Piedmontese school (15th-16th century) that decorate various buildings in the municipality. Furthermore, there is the beautiful Castle, painted for the first time in 1852, which probably dates back to the 12th century, under the protection of the Marquisate of Ceva.

In the category of religious monuments, there is the Parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary Assumed into Heaven and the Sanctuary of Our Lady, from the early 1900s.

Society

Niella Tanaro has seen an increase in the foreign population, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics as of December 31, 2017. The municipality counts, for example, foreign citizens from Romania, Nigeria, and Morocco.

Administration

Niella Tanaro has a wide range of administrations that have succeeded each other in the past in running the municipality. The Municipality was part of the Alto Tanaro Cebano Monregalese mountain community.

Infrastructure and transport

Niella Tanaro was served by its own railway station, the Niella Station, along the Bra-Ceva Railway, but unfortunately the line was closed following the damage caused by the 1994 flood. However, the city is well connected thanks to the proximity of the A6 Torino-Savona motorway.

Niella Tanaro is a small historic city, full of values and traditions, a place where social life and cohesion are still very strong. Its beauty and historical richness deserve to be discovered and appreciated.
