Nicorvo
Welcome to Nicorvo: a bit of history, symbols, and points of interest
Hello everyone! Today I'm going to talk about Nicorvo, an Italian municipality of 276 inhabitants located in the province of Pavia, Lombardy. This picturesque city is located in northern Lomellina, where the provinces of Pavia and Novara meet, near the left bank of the Agogna stream and a few kilometers from the cities of Vigevano, Novara, and Vercelli. Let's discover together the history of Nicorvo, its symbols, and its points of interest!
History
The first document referring to Nicorvo dates back to 960, when Berengario II d'Ivrea ordered the hunting of wolves that infested the territory. In 1164, the municipality was placed under the jurisdiction of Pavia by Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, but the local lordship of the palatine counts of Nicorvo continued. In 1532, Nicorvo was detached from Pavia and became part of the Contado di Vigevano. Over the centuries, the city passed into the hands of the De Colli, Settala, and Carcano families, remaining a border area during the Napoleonic period. In 1859, Nicorvo was included in the province of Pavia.
Symbols
The coat of arms and banner of the municipality of Nicorvo were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on July 18, 2006. The banner is a yellow flag with a blue border.

Church of San Terenziano
The church of San Terenziano has been mentioned since the 14th century, but the current construction was consecrated in 1620. The interior, which features five altars, was decorated and frescoed in 1925 by painters Luigi Barni and Giacomo Ricci. In the choir, you can admire a beautiful painting depicting the "Virgin with Child Between Saints Dominic and Terenziano" attributed to the school of Bernardino Lanino. Also noteworthy is an oil painting by painter Maria Carcano, depicting the "Resurrection of Lazarus."
Sanctuary of the Madonna del Patrocinio
Commonly called the "Madonnina," the church was built in 1764 and restored in 1910, when the façade was also redone.
