Neviano degli Arduini has a very ancient history; the first evidence of the existence of a settlement dates back to 1038, when the first chapel was built. The fortress of Neviano was attacked in 1266 following the rebellion against the Parmigian Ghibellines, but it was rebuilt and was even conquered by Orlandino and Lodovico da Palù, related to the Countess Matilde di Canossa. From that moment, the specification "degli Arduini" was added to the name "Neviano" to distinguish the village from Neviano de' Rossi. Over the centuries, the feud changed hands several times until the abolition of feudal rights in 1805.
