History: a rich past of history and culture

Nasino boasts an important cultural heritage. In fact, caves with Bronze Age relics were found here, which are now exhibited in the Civic Ingauno Museum. Furthermore, the oldest fraction of the municipality, Vignolo, dates back to the Roman era. In the 10th century, Nasino became part of the Aleramici and, in the following century, of the Marchesato di Clavesana. In the 14th century, the property was enfeoffed to the Albenga families Cepolla first and Cepollini after. During this period, Clavesana and Del Carretto families struggled for sovereignty over the territory. However, it was the marchesi of the Del Carretto branch who forged an alliance and obtained recognition from the Republic of Genoa as lords of Nasino. In the 15th century, the Zuccarello family acquired possession of the feud, followed by the Balestrino family branch. During the 16th century, Nasino became an imperial fiefdom and, in 1735, was incorporated into the Kingdom of Sardinia. In 1815, the Congress of Vienna established that Nasino should be incorporated into the province of Albenga.

The municipality underwent many other changes and regulations, including submission to the First French Empire from 1801 to 1802, the transition to the province of Genoa in 1859, to the district of Savona in 1927, and later to the newly created province of Savona.
