San Liberato

Welcome to San Liberato!

Hello everyone! Today we will discover together the hamlet of San Liberato, located in the municipality of Narni, in the province of Terni, Italy.

History

The history of San Liberato begins in 987, when wars were started for the dispute of the territory in this area. The hill, also called "Vico Mestriano", was sold for the price of 15 silver coins to the monks of Castel Sant'Elia, who immediately built the church and a small monastery. Later, the village was involved in a conflict between Pope Martin V and his nephew Antonio Colonna (between 1417 and 1431), who ruled the nearby Orte: many men of the town were injured or killed during the clashes with the Guelph troops of the Papal States.
