Already in the early 14th century, the castle of Gualdo belonged to Narni. During the Middle Ages, the men of Gualdo and Guadamello were given the important task of preventing access to the port of Santa Lucida in the Tiber Valley below the castle of Guadamello, as described in the documents of the Narnese reforms. In 1566, the inhabitants of Gualdo were called upon to supply cereals, fruit, and poultry to the city of Narni during the weekly market.

Despite the ancient castle being gone, the Church of San Pietro, dating back to the 13th century and restored in the 17th century, remains from its past. Inside, you can admire some traces of the original frescoes and a panel from the 14th century depicting a Madonna called "Libera Nos."
