Nanno, also known as Nan in the Nones dialect, was a municipality in the Trento province. Located in the Non Valley, it was one of the most picturesque places in Alto Adige.
The story of Nanno
In his Historia Langobardorum, Paolo Diacono mentions the municipality of Nanno. Its past was marked by conquests, struggles, and development. For example, Castel Nanno, dating back to the 12th century, appears in its current form dating back to the 16th century.

The monuments and places of interest in Nanno
Nanno had numerous monuments and places of interest that were not to be missed during a visit.
The Church of San Biagio, reconstructed in the mid-20th century in neoclassical style, was one of the most visited places. The church retains its original 16th century bell tower and inside we find the via crucis by C. Poli and the frescoes by Carlo Bonacina. Another religious place not to be missed was the Church of the Saints Fabiano and Sebastiano.
Castel Nanno, which rose towards the end of the 13th century, was extensively renovated by Prince-Bishop Bernardo Cles in the 16th century and would have been used as a warehouse and barracks. Despite being in a state of abandonment, it was a tourist attraction for lovers of local history.
The administration of Nanno
The administration of Nanno was abolished. Since January 1st, 2016, the municipality of Nanno, together with Tassullo and Tuenno, has formed the new municipality of Ville d'Anaunia.
