Physical geography

San Candido stretches along the SS590 road of Valle Cerrina and on the slopes of the surrounding hills. The hamlet is divided into several rural localities and villages, which characterize its landscape. Along the southern edge of the area flows the Stura del Monferrato stream, with beautiful colors during the summer season.

Parish of San Candido

The existence of the country church dedicated to San Candido dates back to 1585. In the seventeenth century, the building collapsed, but the relics of St. Candido were transferred to Murisengo. In the 1700s, the church was rebuilt in Baroque style and extended in the following centuries. Today it has a slender facade and an adjacent bell tower. At the top, you can admire a large painting depicting the martyrdom of San Candido.

Chapel of Santa Maria

The Chapel of Santa Maria, located not far from the village of Cà Toeri, is a small rural building with a single nave, dating back to the sixteenth century. The particularity of this place of worship is given by the beautiful portal with the votive inscription.

"Cylinder Mill"

Located on the eastern edge of the hamlet, there is the old building of the "Cylinder Mill", a mill dating back to the end of the nineteenth century that has undergone subsequent modifications over time. Currently, it is abandoned, but the structure is very suggestive and worth visiting.

Infrastructure and transport

To reach San Candido, there are several options, but certainly the bus is one of the most convenient means. Line 3006 of the Gruppo Torinese Trasporti (GTT) connects Turin to Casale Monferrato, passing through the hamlet of San Candido.
