Mottafollone

Hello friends, today I will talk to you about the Calabrian town of Mottafollone, also known as ''Mattifiddruni'' in the local dialect or ''Mattifuddùni'' in Calabrian dialect. This picturesque village has just over 1000 inhabitants and is located in the province of Cosenza, precisely between the Plain of Sibari and the southern part of the Pollino National Park.

Society

Mottafollone is a hospitable town, where traditions and culture blend harmoniously and represent a precious heritage. Mottafollonesi are genuine and welcoming people, who love to spend their free time outdoors and organize festivals and celebrations to honor local typical products.

Demographic evolution

The town has witnessed a decrease in its population in recent decades. In fact, if in the 1950s and 1960s the number of inhabitants was just over 2000, in the following years there was a constant demographic decline that led to a 50% decrease in the current population. Despite this, Mottafollone continues to be one of the most suggestive places in Calabria.

Twinning

Mottafollone is twinned with the Belgian city of Rance, a town with similar characteristics, located near Charleroi. The bond between the two communities is strengthened every year thanks to numerous cultural exchanges and the organization of joint events.

Notes

In short, if you are looking for an authentic village where you can spend moments of relaxation, Mottafollone is the right choice! Do not be discouraged by the demographic decline, this has not scratched the charm of the town.
