Morolo, also known as Muròlu in the local dialect, is a municipality with a population of 3152 inhabitants located in the province of Frosinone in Lazio, in the Middle Valle Latina. The city is situated at 397 meters above sea level, between the plateau of the Monti Lepini and the plain of the Sacco River.

History
Morolo is a treasure of history and culture. Its origins could date back to Ecetra, the ancient city of the Volsci, as reported by Livy and Dionysius of Halicarnassus in their studies. However, this theory has not been confirmed by local historians Antonio Biondi and Cesare Bianchi, who have denied this possibility.
In Morolo, there are traces of megalithic walls of the disappeared city in the district of Casali, where the foundations of the Roman villas attest to a vast settlement that lasted until the imperial period.
Legend has it that Morolo was founded around 210 BC, when Hannibal passed through these districts, defeating the Ferentino, destroying everything, and then besieging Rome.
In the night of 1216, Giovanni De Ceccano attacked and destroyed the Rocca di Morolo. As narrated by Canali in his "Historical Notes of the Morolo Land," "in this slaughter, 424 people, that is, all those who could not escape and save their lives, died among men and women."
In September 1303, Tommaso da Morolo took part in the assault on Anagni with an armed contingent composed of Giacomo Sciarra Colonna and Nogaret in the famous "Slap of Anagni" against Pope Boniface VIII.
