History of Caselle
Caselle was an ancient municipality in the Province of Milan, and its population in 1771 was about 197 people. In 1805, at the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy, the population grew to 270 inhabitants. However, in 1809 it was suppressed with a decree by Napoleon and annexed to Coronate. When the Municipality of Caselle was reinstated with the return of the Austrian Empires, it was moved to the Province of Pavia. In 1859, the village passed under Milan and the population dropped to 250 inhabitants, while in 1862 its name was changed to Caselle d'Ozzero to underline its religious bond with the nearby Ozzero and disambiguate it from other homonymous municipalities. In 1870, it was definitively dissolved and annexed to Coronate.
