History of Morbello

Documents indicate that Morbello was first mentioned in the 10th century. At that time, it was part of the Acqui district and was owned by the marquises of Bosco. Later, in 1233, the town passed to the Republic of Genoa, which shared it with the Malaspina family. In 1708, Morbello became part of the Marchesato del Monferrato.

Places of interest in Morbello

Dominating the town of Morbello are the ruins of the castle, which has been destroyed and rebuilt several times since the 17th century. It is part of the "Open Castles" system of Lower Piedmont and is the headquarters of the medieval association "Limes Vitae", which organizes guided tours in costume. Other medieval remains include the ruins of the Marocco tower and Ciglione tower.
