Monteu Roero: A Dive into the History and Beauty of the Province of Cuneo

Are you ready to explore a town worth visiting? Let me introduce you to Monteu Roero, an enchanting place in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont, that will leave you speechless.

History: From Monte Acuto to Roero

The original name of the site on which the town stands was "Monte Acuto" ("Mons Acutus" in Latin). In 1041, Emperor Henry III the Black granted it to the bishop of Asti, who, a century later, gave it to Count Guido di Biandrate, who built the first castle. The fief later passed to the Roero family, defeated by the Asti Commune in 1299 for 48,000 florins. The castle was built by the Roero family on the remains of the Biandrate castle in the early XV century. The fief then passed to other families before being sold in 1784 to Vittorio Amedeo III of Savoy.
