Monterosso Grana
Monterosso Grana: a charming place in the heart of Valle Grana
Hello everyone! Today I want to talk about Monterosso Grana, a municipality of 515 inhabitants located in the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. It is the perfect place for nature lovers, as it is located in the center of Valle Grana, an enchanting region among the mountains.
Geography: spectacular landscapes and lush pastures
The municipal territory of Monterosso Grana extends for 42.22 km², with altitudes ranging from 700 to 2000 meters above sea level. Here you can admire spectacular landscapes, with chestnut woods and pastures used by herds that produce the milk for the famous Castelmagno cheese. The highest peaks, such as Mounts Pervou, Grum, and Bram, are on the border with Valle Stura.
History: a coat of arms that tells the story of the territory
The coat of arms of the municipality of Monterosso Grana was granted by royal decree on February 8, 1937. It represents the municipal territory with a green mountain on a blue background, surmounted by a radiant sun on the left, on the right the vine and grape cluster, and in the center the gear wheel, symbol of the textile industry existing in the municipality.
Society: a small, quiet but not isolated municipality
The small municipality of Monterosso Grana has only 515 inhabitants, but there are no shortage of opportunities to spend pleasant moments together. The local community, in fact, organizes numerous activities and festivals, such as the Porcini Mushroom Festival in September.
Administration: a history of administrative continuity
Monterosso Grana has had numerous administrations that have succeeded each other over the years; here you can find all the details.
The municipality was part of the Valli Grana and Maira mountain community.
