Physical geography of Montecosaro
Territory
The territory of Montecosaro is characterized by a valley crossed by the Chienti river, which divides the municipality into two parts. Along the valley lies the inhabited center of Montecosaro Scalo, but moving northwards the territory becomes mainly hilly until it reaches the highest point of the municipal territory, at 271 meters above sea level. From this position, three streams also originate, Caronte or fosso Fogliano, Cavallino or Sdregaro and Pontigliano. In the northern part, the municipality is crossed by the Asola stream, which also serves as a border with two other municipalities located on the sides. Moving east, the municipality borders Civitanova Marche, while to the west is Morrovalle, which repeats the same morphology.
Climate
The climate in Montecosaro is rather mild. In summer, the temperature varies from 20 to 30 °C, with sunny hot days made even more enjoyable by the sea breeze. In winter, temperatures range from -2 to 10 °C, but the moderately cold climate does not prevent enjoying the beauty of the territory.
