Physical Geography

Monte Vidon Corrado is located in the central-southern area of Marche, between the provinces of Macerata, Fermo, and Ascoli Piceno. It is situated at 320 meters above sea level and enjoys a pleasant climate throughout the year.

Origin of the Name

The name of our town derives from Corrado, the son of Fallerone I, Lord of Falerone. Corrado and his brother, Guidone, are famous because they gave their names to two castles that are located in Fermano. Moreover, Monte Vidon Corrado and Monte Vidon Combatte, which are distinct municipalities today, bear their names.

History

The history of Monte Vidon Corrado is very interesting and counts numerous important events. In fact, human presence in our town dates back to the Neolithic period and is attested by various archaeological findings. In the Middle Ages, Monte Vidon Corrado was one of the fiefs of the powerful Lord of Fermano, Federico II da Montefeltro. In the eighteenth century, our town was a fief of the Piccolomini, nobles from Tuscany.

Our town has a stable population of about 674 inhabitants. However, in recent years there have been some new settlements, also thanks to the beauty of our territory.

Economy

Craftsmanship

In our town, the most traditional and widespread economic activities are those related to craftsmanship, such as the processing of straw, rush, and wood chip. These materials are mainly used for the production of bags and hats, but also for other decorative objects.

Monte Vidon Corrado is part of the large area n. 4 of Fermo and of the Regional Health Service of Marche (A.S.U.R. Marche).
