History of the municipality
In the past, Monte San Giacomo was part of the administrative subdivision of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies## Circondari di Diano, belonging to the district of Sala in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Later, from 1860 to 1927, it was part of the mandamento (law) of Teggiano, belonging to the district of Sala Consilina. In the following years, the municipality saw numerous changes, becoming what we know today.
