The history of the municipality

Montano Lucino has an ancient history rich in events. It is believed that the first Neolithic village in the Como area (3500 BC) can be located in the territory of Montano Lucino. In the communal age, Lucino favored Como against Milan, but its fortress, located where today the "Curt dei Vincenzitt" is, was razed to the ground by the Milanese in 1240.

The Como Statutes of 1335 report the "comunia locorum of Montano de Trevino" and the "comune loci de Lucino" among the municipalities that, within the Fino diocese, had the task of ensuring the maintenance of some roads. In 1751, the municipality of Montano already had jurisdiction over various hamlets, while the municipality of Lucino had jurisdiction over other places.

In the same period, Montano and Lucino had already redeemed themselves from feudalism but were still subject to the quindecennial payment related to redemption. Between 1756 and 1757, Montano finally included the territory of "Cassina de Casarigo", while for that of Lucino there was the incorporation into Como.
