History
The territory of Monchiero suffered serious damage following a violent flood in November 1994, caused by the Tanaro and its tributary Rea.
Monuments and places of interest
In the municipality of Monchiero, you can visit the parish church of Saints San Colombano and Giuseppe, a new parish built in 1950. Or you can go to the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Rosario, located in Monchiero Alto, which originally served as a parish dedicated to San Colombano on the homonymous hill. In 1739, the old parish, which was damaged, was demolished and the new one was rebuilt, which was elevated to a sanctuary in 1773.
Society
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, as of 31 December 2017, Monchiero had 94 foreign citizens, of which 36 were Romanian and 24 were Moroccan.
Infrastructure and Transport
Monchiero is crossed by the former State Road 661 of the Langhe, which has a particularity: in the stretch up to Dogliani, there was the presence of the Monchiero-Dogliani tramway track. This branched off from the Monchiero-Dogliani Station, along the Bra-Ceva railway, which was abolished in 1994.
