History of the municipality
Monasterolo di Savigliano has a long history, attested by monuments and places of interest that can still be visited today.
Symbols of the municipality
With the decree of the President of the Republic of 9 October 2002, the municipality obtained the official coat of arms and banner. The coat of arms depicts a Samnite shield with a three-merl tower in the center, symbol of the Solaro Castle. The banner, instead, is composed of green and yellow colors with the coat of arms of the municipality in the center.
Monuments and places of interest
If you visit Monasterolo di Savigliano, you cannot miss the Solaro Castle. Built originally as a fortress in 1241, the castle was expanded and renovated in the following centuries. Today it houses the municipal offices and is part of the "Open Castles" circuit of Lower Piedmont.
Another place of interest is the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, built between 1899 and 1904 to the design of Giuseppe Gallo. The building stands out for the grandeur of the facade and the presence of a statue of Saint Peter at the top.
