Mombaruzzo: A Small Piedmontese Commune
Mombaruzzo is a commune of 1028 inhabitants located in the province of Asti, in Piedmont. The name of the town, "Mombaruss" in Piedmontese language, derives from the Latin "mons barbarus", which means "wild mountain".
History of Mombaruzzo
The existence of a municipal coat of arms can be documented since 1337, but there is no remaining description of it. The current coat of arms was granted by decree of the president of the Republic in 1951 and the banner is a split cloth of white and red.
In the last hundred years, the population of Mombaruzzo has decreased by two thirds.
Enogastronomic specialties of Mombaruzzo
Mombaruzzo is famous for its almond biscuits, which also contain the seeds contained in the apricot kernel, called "armelline". These biscuits are famous all over the world and are highly appreciated for their delicious taste. Mombaruzzo is also famous for its wines, produced by the social winery of the village, called "Tre Secoli s.c.a".

Mombaruzzo is reachable via two different provincial roads: the SS 456 of Turchino and the SP 28 of Valle Belbo. The village is also equipped with two "bronze" category railway stations: the main station of Mombaruzzo Stazione and that of Bazzana.
