Mombarcaro: the highest municipality in the Langhe region
Hello friends! Today I want to talk to you about Mombarcaro, a small municipality located in the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. With only 263 inhabitants, Mombarcaro is a town full of hidden treasures that is definitely worth discovering.
Physical geography
Mombarcaro is nicknamed the "peak of the Langhe region" thanks to its altitude, the highest among all the municipalities in this charming area of the region. We are in fact at 896 meters above sea level, and on clear days from the belvedere behind the town, it is possible to see the glimmer of the sea, the typical glow that the sea creates when kissed by the sun. It is from here that the town takes its name: "Mom-barcaro".
In addition to the splendid view of the sea, from the top of Mombarcaro it is possible to admire other fabulous places, such as the Belbo valley, the Monte Spinarda and Monte Camulera mountains, the Colle del Melogno, the Ligurian Apennines, and the Colle di Cadibona. To the west, you can see Bric Mindino, Monte Antoroto, Pizzo d'Ormea, Colle della Lombarda, Gruppo del Chambeyron, Monviso, Cervino and Monte Rosa.
History
Mombarcaro has a long history and its coat of arms and standard were granted by decree of the president of the Republic in 2015. The standard is a split banner of white and blue.
Monuments and Points of Interest
Within the municipality of Mombarcaro, there are several places of interest, including the Monument to the Fallen, located on the square behind the town, and a Fiat G.91 fighter plane, which also serves as a monument.
Demographic evolution
In recent years, the population of Mombarcaro has remained fairly stable, with approximately 263 inhabitants.
Administration
The municipality of Mombarcaro has seen several administrations over the years. Currently, it is part of the Alta Langa Mountain Union.
