Molveno
Welcome to Molveno: an enchanting mountain resort
Hello everyone, I'm here to talk to you about Molveno, a charming Italian municipality located in the province of Trento. With a population of 1,105 and a beautiful alpine lake, Molveno is a renowned tourist destination.
Physical geography
Molveno lies on the shores of Lake Molveno, at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites and the Paganella massif, at the eastern end of the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park. This privileged location has made it a sought-after tourist destination since the last century, so much so that it has hosted illustrious guests such as King Albert I of Belgium, poet Antonio Fogazzaro, engineer and explorer Umberto Nobile, and writer Alberto Moravia. The resort has received the Orange Flag award from the Italian Touring Club for the quality of its hospitality and tourist services. In addition, in 2011 it received the "5 sails" label from Legambiente and TCI for the quality of water, beach, services and safety.
Territory
Molveno is located in a valley created over 4000 years ago when a landslide from the surrounding mountains favored the creation of the lake. The terrain slopes down from the mountain surfaces to the lake, creating a passage that connects the Val di Non with the Giudicarie Esteriori and then with the Valle dei Laghi. The inhabited area is completely surrounded by mountains of the Brenta Dolomites such as Cima Brenta, Cima Tosa, Croz dell'Altissimo, Campanile basso, Catena degli Sfulmini, Torre di Brenta, Cima Armi, Cima Lasteri, Piz Galin, Monte Gazza and Altopiano del Pradel.
Lake Molveno is the second largest lake in Trentino-Alto Adige with an area of 3.27 km² and a maximum depth of 123 meters. Its beauty is due to the natural frame that surrounds it: the central chain of the Brenta Dolomites to the west and the massif of Monte Gazza and Paganella to the southeast.
The Altopiano del Pradel extends north of the town of Molveno and is perfect for hikers and mountaineers, but also for those who want to relax in a mountain environment. There is an automatic coupling cable car Molveno-Pradel and a road from Andalo that can be travelled by car with a permit issued by the municipality of Molveno. On the plateau there are several hotels, a refuge, an educational farm and an adventure park.
Climate
The climate of Molveno is pleasant throughout the year. According to data from meteorological stations, the average temperature of the coldest month, January, is +1.6°C, while that of the warmest month, July, is +22.4°C.
Conclusion
Molveno is an enchanting mountain resort that offers many outdoor activities. If you want to enjoy the view of the Brenta Dolomites from a privileged position, this is the right place for you. From winter sports to nature walks, Molveno will amaze you with its natural beauty.
