Orography

The orographic characteristics of the Terra di Bari, the historical region where Mola di Bari is located, are reflected in the municipal territory. It is predominantly a flat or slightly undulating area, with a marked rise in altitude about 4 km from the coast. The plain does not exceed a height of 140 meters in the San Materno, Brenca, and Pozzovivo areas.

Geology

Regarding the geology of Mola di Bari, dun deposits of the Quaternary period can be seen along the coast, consisting of white-yellowish calcarenite, rather friable and with fossil presence. Inland, there are also calcareous and dolomitic formations of the Mesozoic period, such as the "Bari limestone" and the "Mola limestone."

Hydrography

The territory of Mola di Bari is crossed perpendicular to the coast by several "lama," including the Sant'Antonio (or Sant'Onofrio) and the San Giuseppe. There is also the Gravina di Monsignore, which forms a deep gorge in the territory of Conversano. Although there are no permanent bodies of water, there are some karst sinkholes that become small water basins used for irrigation in case of heavy rains. Furthermore, near the municipality, there is the Minghiazze cave, an underground cavity with incredible stalactite formations.

Conclusion

Here is the marvelous Mola di Bari, a municipality you cannot miss if you are in Puglia. Its position on the coast and its fishing port make it a place of great importance for the region, while its geology offers a wide variety of landscapes to admire. Have you ever been to Mola di Bari?
