Moio de' Calvi
A journey to Moio de' Calvi, a village surrounded by nature
Hello guys! Today I want to tell you about a beautiful village nestled among the mountains of Bergamo province, Moio de' Calvi. With its 200 inhabitants, this village will leave you breathless with its natural beauty.
History
The history of Moio de' Calvi was made by the daily life of its inhabitants who have always been dedicated to the work that nature offers, such as breeding and production of charcoal from wood. It is believed that the first stable settlements in this area date back to the time of barbarian invasions.
The toponym derives from the popularized Latin "Molleus", indicating a wet place. In the sixteenth century, the village became part of the Republic of Venice, was included in the administrative district of "Valle Brembana Oltre la Goggia", and the family of the "Calvi" created their own hunting reserve.
In 1927, the fascist regime carried out a major merger between several municipalities in the Kingdom of Italy, and Moio was joined with the neighboring Valnegra, Piazza Brembana, and Lenna in a single municipality called San Martino de' Calvi. Only in 1956, the municipalities separated again, taking on the current conformation.
