Lomaniga
Welcome to Lomaniga!
Hello everyone, welcome to Lomaniga! Today, I will talk about this beautiful village in the municipality of Missaglia, in the province of Lecco. I am happy to share with you a little bit of its history and natural beauty.
Territory
Lomaniga is divided into a main village and several isolated places where old farmhouses can still be found. Among these places are Cascina Palazzina, Cascina Albareda, and Cascina Oliva, which are definitely worth visiting. But the real gem of Lomaniga is the beautiful Villa Carozzi, located in the upper part of the village, which was used as a summer residence by a wealthy Milanese family.
History
Registered in 1751, Lomaniga was originally a village in the province of Milan with only 295 inhabitants together with the hamlet of Albareda Maggiore. In 1805, at the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy, the population had increased to 316 residents. In 1809, a decree by Napoleon suppressed the municipal autonomy and annexed Lomaniga to Missaglia, but the Municipality of Lomaniga was subsequently restored with the return of the Austrians. Over the years, the population continued to grow, reaching 924 residents in 1921. However, in 1928, the fascist government decided to again suppress the municipality of Lomaniga and merge it with Missaglia.
Castegn, Salamitt, and Pincianel
The "Castegn, Salamitt and Pincianel" festival is one of the best-known village festivals in Brianza and is an event held in Lomaniga for over forty years, every year in October. The festival is dedicated to typical gastronomic products of the area, including chestnuts, salamis, and Piancianello, the typical red wine of the region.
