Miradolo Terme is an Italian municipality located in the province of Pavia, in Lombardy. With a population of 3,642 inhabitants, it is located in the eastern area of Pavese, at the foot of the San Colombano al Lambro hill. The name of the municipality first appears in the will of the Milanese archbishop Ariberto da Intimiano in 1034, where it is indicated as "Castrum Miradolium". Archaeological finds dating back to the Bronze Age have been found in the area, but the locality was already known in the previous century for the presence of natural sources of saline water used for food preservation purposes. The village of Miradolo was part of the team of the Vicariate of Belgioioso in the fifteenth century and has been known for its thermal activity since 1511.

History
The first traces of settlement in Miradolo date back to the Bronze Age and the Golasecca civilization, where objects of common use, pottery, and cinerary urns were found. The name of Miradolo first appears in 1034, when the village is indicated as "Castrum Miradolium". In 1164, Emperor Frederick Barbarossa assigned jurisdiction over the Lomellina, the Oltrepò Pavese, and some localities in Pavese, such as Miradolo, which did not belong to Pavia. The village was among the possessions of the ancient Santa Cristina and Bissone, near the Longobard foundation monastery, and was known for its thermal activity since 1511 when King Louis XII of France gave the first official recognition to the exploitation of local saline water sources for therapeutic purposes. In the eighteenth century, Miradolo incorporated the municipality of "Ca 'de Rho" and in 1872 it united with the suppressed municipality of Camporinaldo. In 1938, the municipality took on the name "Miradolo Terme" in recognition of its thermal activity.
Thermal activity of Miradolo Terme
Miradolo Terme is known for its thermal waters, used for therapeutic purposes since 1511. In 1757, the municipality merged through marriage in the domains of the Barbiano princes of Belgioioso, and in 1912 the University of Pavia was founded, supported in the hydrotherapy complex of the "Saline di Miradolo". In 1930, the Terme di Miradolo Society was founded, which managed thermal activity. Since then, Miradolo Terme has become a renowned tourist destination for the treatment of respiratory, dermatological, and otorhinolaryngological diseases. Over the years, the thermal center has been expanded and modernized.
