The History of Mioglia
The history of Mioglia dates back to the diploma of 967, when the village then called Meolia was annexed by the emperor Otto I of Saxony. In 1091, it became possession of Bonifacio del Vasto and the Marchesato di Bosco in the mid-12th century. Its lands were sold in the early 13th century to the Church of Santa Maria di Latronorio. In 1223, it was included as a territory of the Republic of Genoa thanks to an agreement with the Genoese. In 1419, it was acquired by the Marchesato del Monferrato until, in 1469, it became the possession of the Scarampi. In 1738, it was annexed to the Kingdom of Sardinia, becoming a fief of the Scarnafigi family.
