History of the town
Mignànengo has ancient origins: the town was crossed by one of the most important Roman roads, the Via Postumia, which connected the Bocchetta pass with the Po Valley. Thanks to this road, the town soon became an essential point of passage for goods and troops northward.
During the Middle Ages, the town of Mignànengo had an exceptional role for the furnaces found in the town of Fraconalto: scholars have hypothesized that these furnaces could exceed one hundred and be able to meet the needs of the entire area.
Although there is no historical evidence of this fact, it seems that there was also a monastery near Pian di Reste, a sacred place frequented by travelers.
What to see in Mignànengo
If you are passing through Mignànengo, there are some tourist attractions not to be missed. In particular, we recommend visiting the villages of Costagiutta and Paveto, both rich in history and charm.
In Costagiutta, for example, you can visit the Church of San Bernardo, which dates back to the 11th century and was painted in 1580.
Instead, in Paveto, you can find the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua: the place of worship was built in 1657 and preserves some nineteenth-century canvases of considerable artistic value.
Climate in Mignànengo
Mignànengo enjoys a mild climate typical of Mediterranean coastal areas. Summer temperatures are warm but not excessive, while winter temperatures are mild.
At the same time, the town is known for the strong "Ponente" wind, a wind that blows from France and can reach very high speeds. If you are a water sports enthusiast, for example, this feature could make Davoli the ideal destination for your next trip.
