Welcome to Miane, a Municipality immersed in Nature

Welcome to Miane, a Municipality of 3139 inhabitants located in the province of Treviso in Veneto. Miane is a place immersed in nature, characterized by the presence of ridges and valleys. The northern area borders the province of Belluno and here we find the Belluno pre-Alps, which culminate with Mount Cimon, reaching an altitude of 1,438 m above sea level. In the territory of Miane, there are also plateaus and valleys on which the main towns have arisen. The municipal capital is located in the center of the territory, in a valley of Vallata, and is delineated by the San Piero and Visnà streams.

The History of Miane between Ancient Rome and the Middle Ages

The history of Miane has ancient origins, it is supposed that the name derives from a certain "Aemilius", a veteran Roman soldier. The Municipality was born as a Roman pagus, dependent on a municipium, as evidenced by its proximity to Ceneda, a center of considerable importance during the Roman Republic. With the spread of Christianity, Miane was a very important place of worship. During the centuries, the presence of the barbarians disrupted the order imposed by the Romans, but did not alter the ecclesiastical division into parishes and chapels. The Pieve of S. Maria di Miane was born, which was under Treviso, and the chapels of Visnà, Vergoman, Combai, Campea, and Premaor. Throughout history, Miane has undergone different changes in the form of administration, but its thousand-year history has made it a unique and fascinating place.
