Hi everyone! Today I want to talk to you about Turin, a city located in the northwest of Italy, in the Piedmont region. Turin is the fourth largest city in Italy by population, with about 842,472 inhabitants, and it is the capital of the region and the metropolitan city of Turin.

A multifaceted city

Turin is a very important city from an economic and industrial point of view, particularly in the automotive and publishing sectors. But it is also famous for its art, tourism, science, and culture. Moreover, on the territory of Turin there are two important UNESCO heritages: some palaces and areas belonging to the circuit of the Savoy residences in Piedmont and the hills of the Po, biosphere reserve. But the city of Turin is also a very beautiful city from a historical point of view, with a two-thousand-year history that begins with the foundation of the Taurini, who gave the city its name. Throughout the centuries, Turin has been a Roman colony, a capital of the Marca di Torino and an important Duchy of Turin, until becoming the first capital of the Kingdom of Italy.

Physical geography

The territory of Turin is located in the plain delimited by the rivers Stura di Lanzo, Sangone and Po, which cross the city from south to north. The city is located in front of some alpine valleys, such as the Val di Susa, the Valli di Lanzo and the Val Sangone. The proximity to the mountains makes Turin a city much loved by those who love nature and outdoor sports.

The city is the hub of the Italian automotive industry and of the publishing, banking and insurance, information technology, cinema, food and wine, space (astronomy), industrial design, sports, fashion and artificial intelligence sectors. For those visiting the city, the panoramic view from the Mole Antonelliana, the Egyptian Museum, and the Valentino Castle are a must-see.

Turin, a global city

The constant growth of international importance has made Turin reach the rank of global city in the Gamma category, after Milan and Rome. It is a multifaceted city, with a great history behind it, that offers many opportunities for those who want to visit it or live there.
