The climate

Mesagne enjoys a Mediterranean climate, but its geographical position is affected by the currents from North Africa and the Balkans. In winter, cold currents from the Balkans can cause frost and snowfall. Conversely, summer can be very hot; the wind, particularly the Scirocco, can sometimes cause unusually high temperatures. Mesagne is also known for its high humidity rate and constant presence of wind.

The history of Mesagne

Mesagne has a long and interesting history, which dates back to the Upper Paleolithic. Later on, the city became an important commercial crossroads between Salento and the rest of Italy.

Mesagne and the Puglian Baroque

Together with Ostuni, Mesagne boasts numerous examples of Baroque architecture in religious and private buildings. These places and monuments tell the story of Salento and attract visitors from all over the world.

Mesagne and cinema

Mesagne is not only a place of beauty and tradition, but also the ideal location for filming movies. Indeed, between 2005 and 2015, five film productions chose the city as their setting: a testament to its beauty and the unique atmosphere you can breathe here.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Mesagne is a city that absolutely deserves a visit. Its geographical location, beauty, history, and unique atmosphere make it an unmissable stop on the Salento tourist itinerary. And if you decide to come and visit us, we will be happy to welcome you!
