Meolo

Welcome to Meolo, our town

Hello everyone! We are pleased to introduce you to the beautiful town of Meolo, a municipality of 6,200 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Venice in Veneto. After being designated as a European Town of Sport in 2016, our town has made great strides in developing sports facilities and activities that involve the entire community.

A town immersed in nature

Meolo is a town located in the north, bordering the province of Treviso and crossed by the Meolo river from which it takes its name. Our territory is flat and perfect for agriculture. In fact, much of our land is used for agriculture with an advanced mechanical drainage system for water reclamation. If you enjoy walking or hiking, Meolo is a great place to be. The southern part of the town is crossed by the historical path of the ancient Annia Road.

Meolo: history, nature and welcoming community.

A town rich in history

If you love towns rich in history, Meolo is perfect for you. The town has its own coat of arms and flag, adopted by the town council in 1992. Our church of San Giovanni Battista, built in the fifteenth century, is a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture. The church has a brick Romanesque facade facing west. Inside, the 1758 cycle of paintings by Giandomenico Tiepolo is of considerable importance.

There are also numerous Venetian villas to admire such as Ca' Cappello, where the town hall is located. Inside, there are traces of ancient fresco decoration in excellent condition. Villa Folco (Meolo), built in the nineteenth century, was the Supreme Command of the Italian Army during World War I, where on November 9, 1917, Commander Luigi Cadorna (1850-1928) passed the command to Armando Diaz (1861-1928).

We are a welcoming community

Meolo has a great community, always ready to welcome new people. Our town has a population of 6,200 inhabitants, where the family is at the center of community life. Meolo is twinned with Berre-l'Étang, a village in France.

An easily accessible town

The municipal territory is affected by the passage of the A4 motorway (Italy), and our northern border borders the province of Treviso. Our territory is perfectly connected to other nearby cities such as Venice, Padua, and Treviso which can be reached by train or car.

We hope we have made you fall in love with Meolo, our small town immersed in nature, in what is a perfect combination of history and modernity. Come visit us, you will be welcome!
