The History of Menconico

Menconico has an ancient history that dates back to prehistoric times, but it was then owned by the Abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio. After the fall of the Lombards, the fiefdom passed to the Malaspina family.

The municipality was part of the Malaspina Marquisate until the fifteenth century, when the fiefdom was taken over by Duke of Milan Filippo Maria Visconti. Later, the fief was assigned to Bosio I Sforza, Count of Santa Fiora, who held it until the French occupation of the Duchy of Milan at the end of the fifteenth century.

In 1743, Menconico became part of the Kingdom of Sardinia under the Savoy, and then of the Province of Bobbio in Liguria. In 1859, the municipality became part of the province of Pavia.
