History

Meleti has an ancient and rich history. In the 12th century, it was owned by the Church of Milan, then passed into the hands of noble families of the Lodigiano such as "Stampa", "Pusterla", and "Selvatico". In 1344, it was forced to yield power to the Visconti of Milan. During the Napoleonic age, the town was included in the fiefdom of Castelnuovo Bocca d'Adda, and then, after the Risorgimento, obtained autonomy.
