Bustighera

Welcome to Bustighera!

Bustighera, one of Lombardy's jewels, is a fraction of the municipality of Mediglia situated to the east of the town center, towards Tribiano. With a history dating back to ancient times, this agricultural village belonging to the Pieve of San Giuliano Milanese was originally bordering Cascina Mercugnano to the north, Canobbio and Tribiano to the east, Colturano to the south, and Mediglia to the west.

A Brief History

Counted in 1751 with only 70 residents, Bustighera grew in population throughout history, reaching 219 units during the Napoleonic era in 1805. In 1809, the 219 inhabitants of Bustighera were joined by those of the municipalities of Cascina Canobbio, Cascina Gavazzo, Cascina Mercugnano, and Cascina Vigliano, reaching a total of 953 citizens.

In 1811, Bustighera and its fractions experienced the first annexation to the municipality of Mediglia, but in 1816, all the centers regained autonomy, thanks to the constitution of the Lombardo-Veneto Kingdom.

By 1853, the Municipality of Bustighera had a population of 421 inhabitants, while it had risen to 433 in 1861. Finally, in 1869, the Municipality of Bustighera was aggregated to that of Mediglia following the ancient Napoleonic model.
