History
Massa d'Albe has an ancient history, dating back to the 14th century when the population of Alba Fucens moved to the territory of Massa after the abandonment of the ancient city. The municipality was included in the county of Albe and later in the duchy of Tagliacozzo. Over the centuries it was owned by the Angiò-Durazzo, Colonna, Caldora, Orsini and again Colonna families, until the abolition of feudalism in 1806. During World War II, Massa d'Albe was the scene of important partisan activities and suffered aerial bombardments by the Allies.
Monuments and places of interest

The Church of San Pietro is one of the most important monuments in the Abruzzo region, thanks to its Romanesque architecture, decorative furnishings and ecclesiastical utensils.

During World War II, Massa d'Albe was the site of a command of the Nazi SS who guarded the Gustav line, and the Orsini Castle of Albe Vecchia was one of the positions chosen by the Germans. This place was also important for partisan activities, which took place precisely in this area.
