History

The first news of Puntalazzo dates back to the 17th century. During World War II, there was one casualty from Allied air raids, hit by shrapnel, and four soldiers killed in action.

Religious Architecture

Puntalazzo boasts important religious buildings, such as the Church of the Assumption of Mary. The construction of a first church, dedicated to Baby Mary, dates back to the 17th century; it was built on a farm and has been closed to worship since the 1930s. In 1851, there was a need for a new, larger and more centrally located place of worship. Here began the construction of the Church of the Assumption of Mary. The work was completed in 1927 with the completion of the facade, which has a neoclassical style.

A plaque in honor of the Puntalazzo residents who died in World War I was installed in 1923 in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III.
