Olmo
Olmo, the small hamlet near Venice
Hello to all readers, today we want to tell you about Olmo, a small hamlet in the municipality of Martellago, in the province of Venice. Despite being a very small town, in fact, it has little more than 5,000 inhabitants, Olmo has a history and characteristics worth knowing.
History
Olmo was born as a rural location in the territory of Maerne. Only in 1971 did it obtain the status of a hamlet, thanks to the great urban development that characterised it in those years, attracting many families mainly from Mestre and Venice. Today, the locality has developed so much that it has created an urban continuity with the localities of Zelarino and Trivignano, included in the Municipality of Chirignago-Zelarino.
Monuments and places of interest
Despite its recent origins, Olmo can boast a beautiful parish church, dedicated to the Annunciation of the Lord. The construction of the new church, designed by the architect Don Angelo Polesello, began in 1988 and ended in 1991 with the consecration presided over by the bishop of Treviso Paolo Magnani.
Infrastructure and transport
The hamlet of Olmo is served by some urban and extraurban lines of the ACTV that connect the provincial 38 (Via Olmo) to various areas of the urban area of Mestre, Venice and the main centers of the Miranese. Therefore, even though the town is small, it is easy to reach the nearby city and travel around Veneto.
