On September 30, 2017, the province of Gorizia as a local authority was abolished, becoming a non-administrative super-municipal territorial unit. The eponymous regional decentralization authority located in Gorizia has inherited some of its structures. However, the province of Gorizia remains a district of state administrations in the territory.

In conclusion, the province of Gorizia is a territory rich in history and natural beauties. Each of its 25 municipalities has its own peculiarities, ranging from the sea to the mountains, from historic villages to cities of art.
