Marciana Marina

Welcome to Marciana Marina, the smallest municipality in Tuscany

Hello friends! Are you ready to discover one of the smallest municipalities in Tuscany? Let me introduce you to Marciana Marina, a small village of only 1871 inhabitants located on the island of Elba and washed by the Ligurian Sea. Despite its small size, Marciana Marina boasts numerous monuments and places of interest that I recommend you visit.

Monuments and places of interest

Let's start with the harbor, whose construction dates back to 1911. Here you can admire the Tower of the Appiani, a sixteenth-century tower that dominates the entrance to the port. The original nucleus of the village developed near the natural harbor called Il Cotone and later the Vicinato lungo area developed. In Piazza Vittorio Emanuele you will find the Church of Santa Chiara, dating back to 1776, while Villa Anselmi-Spinola and Villa Leonardi, both from the nineteenth century, are historic buildings of great importance. During the eighteenth century, the village was called "Little Marseille" for its port and commercial importance.

You can also take a walk on the Paolina beach, named after Paolina Bonaparte, which houses the ruins of a Roman building. If you are fond of modern architecture, I recommend you to visit Villa Spinelli, Villa Albertini, Villa Del Balzo, and Villa Vannini-Parenti.

The municipal territory of Marciana Marina is characterized by a beautiful coastline that I recommend you to explore. From Cala alla Feniccia, passing through Punta Nera and Punta della Crocetta, you will find many coves and beaches that are a real spectacle for the eyes. Moreover, if you are fond of archeology, you cannot miss the locality of Redinoce.

Finally, I would like to point out that since 2012 Marciana Marina is the set of the television series "I delitti del BarLume".
