A small trace of history
The hamlet of Poderi di Montemerano was born around the end of the sixteenth century with the name of "Poderi di Sotto", when the inhabitants of Montemerano used the hills below the medieval village to build shelters for livestock and agricultural tools. Only in the eighteenth century did the hamlet assume its own physiognomy, taking the name of "Castelletto Santarelli", from the name of the landowners. Later, the localities of "Case Detti" and "Case Ciani" were formed.
