Mairano

Mairano: a welcoming town in the province of Brescia

Mairano is a beautiful and welcoming town in the province of Brescia in Lombardy with a population of around 3500 people. It is located one kilometer away from the Brescia provincial road, Quinzano d'Oglio, Cremona and 16.6 kilometers away from the city of Brescia. The town is bordered to the east by the Seriola Molina and includes the Pievedizio hamlet to the north. The relevant farms are Babbiò, Canino, Feniletto, Godi (i Gucc), San Francesco and Tesette.

The origin of the name

Mairano owes its name to the territory of the Po Valley, which was once under Roman centuriation. According to experts, the toponym derives from the Latin ''fundus Marianus''.

The history of Mairano

Mairano has a very rich history. Currently, the town is governed by the mayor Igor Zacchi, who was elected for the center-right civil list. The city was previously governed by the center-left civil list led by Paola Arini.

Sports

Mairano is famous for its passion for football. The town is present in the provincial football sport with the Unione Sportiva Mairano (US Mairano). In 1976, this company merged with Trenzanese di Trenzano, forming Tre-Mairano. In 1983, the latter was dissolved and US Mairano was reconstituted. In 1990, US Mairano participated in the second category provincial championship.
